A Glimpse Into Our School
This September, the King’s School Shenzhen International will open its doors in the Qianhai area of Shenzhen.
Those parents who attended our recent event — ‘ A Glimpse into Our School’ on Sunday, 21st July 2019, would have seen the latest updates and information of our new kindergarten campus, but for those who were not there at the event, we will now disclose to you more information about our school. The King’s School Shenzhen International is located on a new campus, in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen, a modern city bursting with energy and ideas. At the same time, the school will inherit from its mother school, the King’s School, Canterbury, its 1400 years of history and tradition of education. In our quest to ensure that the unique culture and spirit of the King’s School Canterbury is replicated here in Shenzhen, we have engaged the award-winning UK architect firm, Walters & Cohen, to design our Shenzhen campus.
The School is located at the foot of Evergreen Park in Nanshan District, where children and teachers can enjoy a wonderful view of nature and take advantage of the surroundings as part of their learning environment. At the same time, the open and transparent design of the campus gives full play to space, light and ventilation. This creates a learning area that will both support a bilingual immersive environment for children, and ensure that children can fully develop and explore their creativity.
At this stage, whilst we are all focused on the progress of construction of the campus, we have not lost sight of the importance of ensuring the delivery of a safe and healthy environment to our staff and pupils. To this end, we have chosen to use only the highest quality raw materials. The indoor flooring has passed the SVHC dangerous and harmful substances inspection under the European PEACH directive as well as the IS09001 and ISD14001 system certification. The materials used for the furniture are mainly composed of plant wood fiber and conform to European EO environmental protection standards, and have all been certified to meet the GREENGUARD indoor air quality standards. The materials used for the construction of the children’s toys are mainly made from Finnish WISA birch plywood and comply with the EO standard. Since production of the customised furniture commenced in March, we are confident that all furniture installed in the school will meet the requisite safety standards.
We are fully aware that at the top our parents’ minds is air quality within the school premises and we are currently conducting comprehensive air testing throughout the premises. We have installed PHI equipment to purify the air in the buildings. These PHI equipment can kill bacteria, mold and other microorganisms. Moreover, it can copletely decompose harmful chemical gases, volatile compounds, TVOCs and PM2.5.
Following the official opening, the much-anticipated Open House will start from August 11. Currently, there are a large number of registered visitors, so please make an appointment in order to reserve a place. We sincerely look forward to seeing there and showing you around our wonderful campus.
