Throughout the Lower, Middle and the first year of the Upper schools (Years 3-9), all children will follow a standard curriculum mirroring that of King’s in Canterbury with some refinements.

The curriculum will include core areas of: English, Mandarin, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Computing, Art, Technology, Music, Drama, Health & Well Being (including Physical Education).

Core (compulsory) subjects to IGCSE

– English

– Mandarin

– Mathematics

– Biology

– Chemistry

– Physics (with option for Astronomy)

– Global Perspectives

Unexamined Core Subjects

– Health & Well Being (including Physical Education)

– Computing

Optional Subjects To IGCSE

– An extra modern language (options to be decided)

– Geography

– History

– Philosophy

– Computing

– Art Design & Technology (with possible option for Engineering)

– Music (with possible option for Music Technology)

– Drama (with possible option for Dance)

The top 7 subjects will all be compulsory for IGCSE.

Students will then choose 3 or 4 more from the second list. Irrespective of choice, all students will continue with some lessons in computing. In the Sixth Form, there will be a free choice of any 4 subjects from the list.

Class sizes will generally be kept to a maximum of 22. However, once subject choice begins, the class sizes will invariably get smaller.

The smallest classes will be in Year 13 as specialist groups concentrate upon studies at the highest level, often for university entrance. Therefore, in our design, we have interspersed a number of seminar rooms among the major departments; this has enabled us to both reduce the number of full-sized classrooms and create a better learning environment for these advanced lessons.
