King’s Summer Programme 2023: a Trip to England’s Ancient King’s School Canterbury
2023.07.20

The Summer Programme includes classes taught by teachers from our sister school, application guidance from a Cambridge professor, and visits to London, Canterbury, and the Harry Potter Studios.

As the first overseas campus of a school that dates back to the year 597 AD, The King’s School Shenzhen enjoys a unique and very close relationship with its sister school in Canterbury. Among the many instances of cooperation between our two schools is this year’s Summer Programme, which is currently underway. July saw 60 of our students depart for the UK full of enthusiasm and curiosity for the summer experience of a lifetime.

An Authentic King’s Classroom

During their Summer Programme, our students will experience first-hand the meticulously-crafted King’s School Canterbury curriculum, taught by a hand-picked selection of teachers at the UK school who have all received additional training to carry out this task. In every one of their classes and activities, the students benefitted greatly from the clear objectives and creative guidance provided by the teachers, so that they were able to simultaneously expand their knowledge and broaden their thinking.

An Exploration of British Culture

In addition to their regular educational activities, our students embarked upon an insightful exploration of British culture. Guided by native British teachers, they learnt about the long history of Canterbury, experienced contemporary culture and daily life in London, and delved into the secrets of the Harry Potter Studios. Walking the streets of some of South East England’s finest cities, they broadened their cultural horizons and gained a rich understanding of the diversity of British culture and values.

A Genuine British Education and University Admissions Guidance

Our Summer Programme is both a cultural visit and an educational visit. By taking part in an English-immersive programme, our students greatly improved their spoken and written English, and their listening comprehension. They also got to experience the distinctive King’s curriculum through such activities as programming, drama, fencing, and robotics, learning in precisely the kind of stimulating environment that King’s excels at providing. Furthermore, our Senior School students had the chance to pay a visit to Cambridge University, where they were given a talk on university admissions by a Cambridge professor which contained many valuable insights that will come in very useful in their future applications.

A Summer to Remember, A Dream to Sprout and Grow!
